Michele is the designer and owner of Atelier M Marrakech, which produces exclusive tailor-made clothing, along with fashion and interior accessories. Working with local artisans, Michele creates bespoke, luxurious, hand-crafted items, made with soul to her own personal designs, to be treasured forever.
Atelier M was conceived and established by Michele Provost in 2015.
Michele is originally from the UK, where she studied textile design at Nottingham College of Art, before moving to the University of Manchester to further her studies.
Michele soon set up her own successful interior design company and ran her first retail outlet in Altrincham, Cheshire for nearly 20 years.
In 2007, Michele moved to Marrakech full time with her now husband Grant, to establish Riad Assakina and forge a new life as a hotelier. She was soon working closely with local weavers, furniture makers and metal workers, to create beautiful bespoke items with which to furnish their fabulous boutique hotel.
Also, as Michele’s love of textiles was given free reign, she began to commission local tailors and embroiderers to make beautiful items of clothing to her own designs. The collections were fashioned specifically for international clientele, so that they might be worn as readily at home as in Morocco. However, they have an unmistakable Moroccan influence and touch.
Designing jewellery and sourcing vintage pieces to accessorise the Moroccan clothing range seemed a natural progression and this business is also now firmly established with a growing and enthusiastic clientele.
The enchanting boutique hotel that Michele and Grant created became an initial outlet for her designs; and, as Michele's natural talents continued to grow in the vibrant, exotic and inspiring setting of Marrakech, Atelier M was created so as to bring those talents to a wider audience.
